So with the wind behind us, a comfortable lead, and 10-9 player advantage we knew we could finish the job off in the second half without having to take the game to Bedfont.
They seemed to calm down for a while but before long they were taking their frustrations out on us again and the ref wasn't standing for it. It was no great surprise then that a second yellow card was shown to the fella who had sythed down Dom in the first half, and Bedfont were reduced to 8 players. We went close as the gaps opened up in their overstretched defence but a goal wasn't forthcoming, and Cushway made a great save from close range to keep the clean-sheet intact.
The game came to an abrupt end when Dave Coates's excellently timed tackle in the box enraged Bedfont when their penalty appeals were turned down, and their defender ran half the pitch to scream in the ref's face - and indeed invited the ref to send him off! He was promptly dismissed and as they had been reduced to 7 men, the game was abandoned after 75mins - although with all the stoppages nearly two hours had elapsed since kick off.
The final against Tongham has been scheduled for Weds 28th April (at a location yet revealed) who we still have to play home and away in the League before then. So it's sure to be an exciting end to the season, which takes us to Haslemere tomorrow to play Hammer Utd.
Bring it on!
