CamerasDirect and CityLink are the dog's danglies: my camera arrived half an hour ago! Less than 20 hours after ordering.
Okay it only had to come from Guildford to Winchester, but still I reserve the right to be impressed with their service.
The battery is on charge and this evening I will be able to play to my hearts content!
I've finally bitten the bullet and ordered a long-sought after digital camera. I'd originally 'promised' myself one when I got my first pay cheque, but various pre-Chrimbo expenses put pay to that. With my trip to New York to see Steve only two weeks away though I thought it was about time to set the moths free. The arrival of my new Nationwide Credit Card (with 0% 'everything' for 6 months) last Friday finally swung my mind.
After scouring the Internet and reading various reviews, I finally settled on the Canon Digital Ixus 400, in preference to the Casio Z4, the Pentax Optio brother of the Z4 and various Fuji offerings. I've played with Scooter's v and v^3 cams in the past - as well as Clare's Ixus II - and I'm sure I won't be disappointed with mine.
I found the best deal at Cameras Direct and unlike many of the alternative retailers, they actually had them in stock. My brother has also used them in the past without problems too. Since I'm anticipating taking a lot of photos on my holiday, I decided a spare battery would be essential along with a case (my one gripe is that it doesn't come with one). Within 5 minutes of confirming my order, I'd received a shipping notification (which smashes Amazon's turnaround time on an order I placed last week - for items that were in stock), and within 3 days I will have my new toy, conveniently couriered to work. "Excellent," as Mr Burns would say.
I'll definately need to get a larger Compact Flash card, either at the airport (tax-free shopping) or when I get stateside, but at least that should be easier to find than the ixus, which seems to be like gold dust.
CDWow have been screwed by the BPI. How long until they go after Sainsbury's and Tesco? And now a company are claiming to have patented the method of music downloading back in 1985, grr!
$50 less than it's bigger brother with 11Gig more storage? Yep. But 1,000 songs will keep a lot of people happy.
Has an armband accessory for the keep fit brigade? Indeed.
Smaller than a SonyEriccson T68i? Yep
Overpriced? Yes. I'll keep saving for the real McCoy thanks. But I'm sure Apple will still sell shed-loads of them.
